Introduction
Getting started
Sign up, add your first monitor, and watch the first check fire — all in under sixty seconds.
PingPane is a URL monitoring service. You give it an address to watch, it checks that address from our edge every minute or every five, and it tells you the moment something goes wrong. This page walks through the first sixty seconds of the product.
Create an account
Sign in at pingpane.com/login using any email address. We use a passwordless magic link, so there is nothing to memorize. The link expires after fifteen minutes and single-use. If you never click it, nothing happens — no account is created.
Add your first monitor
From the dashboard, click Add monitor. You'll need:
- Name — a short label. "Marketing site" is better than
https://www.example.com/. - URL — the full URL including protocol.
https://is strongly recommended. - Expected status — defaults to any 2xx. Change this if you want to monitor a redirect (3xx) or a "sign in required" page (401).
Click Save. The first check fires within ten seconds.
Watch it fire
The monitor row turns green when the first successful check lands. Click the row to open the detail page, where you'll see:
- A live response-time chart that updates every minute
- A barcode of the last ninety days
- A table of the last one thousand individual checks
- A countdown to the next check
This is the whole product. Every feature that follows is a refinement of these four views.
What to do next
- Add a second monitor and give it a different check interval.
- Publish your status page at
pingpane.com/s/your-slug. - Configure alerts so you hear from us when it matters.
You're done with the quick start. The rest of this manual is reference.
